Historical Romantic Comedy

Book Review of Stuck Together by Mary Connealy

This is a good story. Mary Connealy’s stories always have comedy mixed in and this one is no different. In fact this story opens up with a brawl scene that started off when the heroine, Tina Cahill, is picketing outside the town saloon. It is really funny. This is the 3rd book in the Trouble in Texas series. It continues with the group of friends we have met in the other books, now it is Vince Yates turn. There is a bit of a serious edge when his family comes to town and they must face his mother’s mental health issues. However, it is still interspersed with humor. When Vince and Tina get close, maybe heading for a kiss, the 1st two times, they are close to a door and someone comes barging in behind them and they knock heads. Jonas and Vince’s younger sister also have a romance in this story, but it is just talked about here and their briefly. It could have been made into its own story.

Suspenseful Tale

Book Review of Deadly Pursuit by Irene Hannon

Allison and Mitch start out the story by getting set up on a blind date with each other by her brother. They both expect it to be miserable, but are to kind to cancel. They are surprised by the fact that they really like each other and click right away. Allison is hesitant to move quickly into a relationship because of a serious relationship that ended abruptly a year ago when she was seriously injured in a car crash. Mitch is a coworker with Allison’s brother on the police force. He recently moved to the area from New York and had worked for the NYPD and was a navy SEAL before that. Mitch is a good guy and fits perfectly with Allison. The romance progresses sweet and slow. Allison is a social worker and someone from her past begins stalking her and it escalates quickly. The story gets dangerous and suspenseful very quickly. The suspense is definitely the main plot of the story.

Book Review of “Swept Away” by Mary Connealy

Book Review of “Swept Away” by Mary Connealy

This was a good tale. It is a fun, clean western romance. I liked Ruthy. She is practical, intrepid and determined. The history woven into Luke’s backstory was really neat. Luke and his friends were POWs during the Civil War at Andersonville. I had never heard of the idea of regulators before. I also hadn’t considered that some people would travel around and sign up for the enlistment money than do that again in a different area where they were not recognized. The range war was a good backdrop for the story and created quite a bit of suspense. I also really enjoy the moments of humor that Mary Connealy weaves into her stories.
